Inventor of SMS Bringing BookIT's ISMS to the U.S.
The inventor of the now ubiquitous text message, Matti Makkonen, is poised to bring an enhanced version known as iSMS to the U.S. market.
BookIT, the Finnish firm that owns the patents and trademark for iSMS, said that iSMS works on any phone with traditional texting capability, but has advantages for enterprise applications
such as airline check-in, mobile banking, payment confirmations, appointment scheduling, and field-force management. iSMS has been in use for years by Finnish companies such as Finnair and Nokia Siemens Networks.
BookIT has set up a U.S. office and plans to launch its first commercial campaigns in late 2009, early 2010. …
